Did You Know? Checking Your VIN for Safety Recalls

March 20th 2023

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), checking your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for vehicle safety recalls regularly is just as important as checking your smoke alarm batteries [1]. NHTSA further states that recalls are very serious, and having a recall repaired as soon as possible could potentially save a life [1].

According to new data from NHTSA, there were 932 vehicle recalls in 2022, and more than 30.8 million affected vehicles in the United States [2].

NHTSA also cautions that even if a recall is not high profile, all recalls are important [1]. You can use NHTSA’s Recalls Lookup Tool to check your Vehicle Identification Number for any open recalls. If there is a recall, contact your automobile’s local dealership to get the recall remedied [1].
